Chicago Teamsters Executive Board Sworn In for Another Term
Coli: Organizing Will Be Strong Focus Over Next Four Years
President John T. Coli and the Teamsters Joint Council 25 Executive Board were officially sworn in for another four-year term at the first delegates meeting of the year on Jan. 10 at Teamster City.
The Executive Board was unanimously re-elected without opposition on Nov. 8.
“As we look ahead to another four years, it is important to look back on just how far we have come as a Joint Council,” said Coli. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this outstanding organization as we continue to grow and set our sights on even bigger goals for the future of our membership.”
In addition to Coli, the Joint Council 25 Executive Board includes Secretary-Treasurer Thomas W. Stiede of Teamsters Local 703, Vice President Terrence J. Hancock of Teamsters Local 731, Recording Secretary Brian Meidel of Teamsters Local 734 and Trustees James T. Glimco of Teamsters Local 777, Michael B. Haffner of Teamsters Local 301 and Michael L. Yauger of Teamsters Local 786.
Coli said organizing will be one of the Joint Council’s main focuses over the next four years.
“We see what is happening with right-to-work legislation that is threatening to destroy the very fabric of the labor movement in this country,” Coli said. “Teamsters in Illinois need to lead the way in countering these attacks on working families, and organizing is the best way to do it.”
Celebrated Chicago Bears veteran and former NFL linebacker Otis Wilson was also on-hand during the delegates meeting. Wilson thanked Joint Council 25 and its affiliates for their continued support of his youth outreach foundation, the Otis Wilson Charitable Association. The Chicago-based organization works to improve health, fitness and nutrition education in area schools and after-school programs.
Teamsters Joint Council 25 represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and northwest Indiana.
