Concrete Workers Solidify Three-Year Contract
Local 743 Negotiates Wages, Retirement Benefits at Bonsal American
Nearly a dozen members of Teamsters Local 743 secured a new three-year contract this month with Bonsal American, a 30-year Teamster company.
In addition to wage increases for the second and third years of the contract, the company has agreed to stronger health and welfare and retirement benefits for workers. Members’ 401(k) contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar for the duration of the new agreement.
“Our members at Bonsal American have enjoyed strong wage increases every year since 2008, even as other companies struggled under the weight of the recent financial crisis,” said Donnie Von Moore, Local 743 President. “The Teamsters worked quickly and efficiently to reach a new deal with a company that’s as committed to its production as we are to the workers behind the scenes.”
Teamsters at Bonsal American produce concrete and other pre-packaged building materials for commercial and residential construction. The company has been under Teamster contract since the 1970s in Franklin Park on Chicago’s northwest side.
Teamsters Local 743, an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, represents more than 10,000 hardworking men and women in warehouse, health care, clerical, mail-order and professional industries across metropolitan Chicago.
