Chicago Teamsters Continue Annual Toys for Tots Collection

Donations Now Accepted for Parade on December 4

Following its most successful collection yet last year, Teamsters Joint Council 25 is opening its offices and arms for more donations to support Chicagoland Toys for Tots.

Toy donations are accepted until December 2, 2011, at the Teamsters’ headquarters, located at 1300 W. Higgins Road, Suite 220, Park Ridge, Ill. The Teamster trailer will haul all donations 20 miles from 83rd Street and Western Avenue to the U.S. Marine Corps Armory on Foster Avenue as part of the 34th Annual Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade.

The parade will kick-off at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, December 4.

“What a worthwhile cause, each and every year,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “The Toys for Tots campaign is one consistent and compassionate way we can all continue to give back to our communities, members and neighbors in need.”

Toys for Tots prohibits the donation of certain toys, including stuffed animals and fake guns, knives, whips, brass knuckles, handcuffs and similar items. All other toy donations will be accepted at the Joint Council 25 offices. Donors are encouraged to drop off sporting equipment, games and puzzles, books, bicycles, toy cars and trucks and other universal items. All toys should be new and unopened.

If toy donations cannot be dropped off prior to December 2, please contact the Joint Council at (847) 292-1225 to arrange for pick-up.
