SLIDESHOW: Hispanic Caucus Soccer Event Scores With Teamsters

Hundreds of Members Strengthen Solidarity, Watch Chicago Fire

Though the Chicago Fire lost on the field, the Chicago Teamsters Hispanic Caucus won points for fraternity as more than 500 members enjoyed its 4th Annual Soccer Event this month at Toyota Park.

Ignoring the sweltering sun and the Fire’s loss to the Portland Timbers, Teamster families took advantage of the annual outing, preparing food and playing during a pre-game tailgate party. In addition to celebrating the membership, the Hispanic Caucus honored John T. Coli, President of Teamsters Joint Council 25, and other local leaders for their committed support of the caucus.

“I was honored to play a part in the Hispanic Caucus’ soccer event and to share the day with so many passionate members,” said Coli. “Regardless of race, religion or background, we need to encourage every single Teamster out there to remain active in this union and ready to help improve the lives of all working families.”

In addition to Coli, Hispanic Caucus representatives Chuck Baez and Santiago Perez were honored during the day. The caucus’ retired Recording Secretary Gloria Flores, a former representative of Teamsters Local 781, was also awarded for her lifelong support of women and minorities in the Teamsters Union.

All proceeds from the annual soccer event support educational scholarships for Teamster families.
