JRHMSF Essay Contest Is Now Open
International to Award 50 Scholarships to Teamster Children
The sons, daughters and grandchildren of active Teamsters can apply now through September 30, 2011, for the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund Essay Contest.
Established in 1999, the annual contest awards $1,000 scholarships to 50 students across the country. This year’s contest asks applicants to consider the ongoing War on Workers and offer recommendations for the Teamsters to increase student interest and participation in the fight for worker justice.
“Education is essential to building our union and rebuilding the American middle class,” said John T. Coli, President of Teamsters Joint Council 25 and a Central Region Vice President. “The Joint Council encourages all Teamsters with eligible children to take full advantage of these educational opportunities available through the union.”
