28th National Convention: DAY TWO
Day Two of National Convention Focuses on Members, Organizing
Local 700 Member Addresses Teamsters From Across the Country
On the heels of a strong showing at the first day of the Teamsters’ 28th National Convention, Teamsters Local 700 delegate Paula Webber addressed a crowd of more than 2,000 of her peers from across the country.
“In my three years as a Teamster, I’ve learned that this union does more than just represent its members: the Teamsters empower and inspire us,” said Webber, who is a clerk for the District Court of Cook County. “I am honored to be a Teamster and to follow in the path of the extraordinary leaders at Local 700 and across the country.”
A handful of Teamsters from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico were selected to address the delegates and share their experiences in the union. Proceedings, resolutions and member addresses throughout the day focused on solidarity among rank-and-files and organizing victories over the last five years.
“Paula represented the Teamsters and all public employees in a way that should make our members proud,” said Becky Strzechowski, Local 700 Assistant Trustee. “There is no better way to let the world know our strength as a union than to tell them directly.”
Teamsters Local 700 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and Indiana.
