Teamsters Negotiate for New Hires at Graphic Display Company
Local 743 Increases Warehouse Unit on Heals of New Contract
Teamster membership at graphic display company RTC Industries will expand to nearly 100 workers this year thanks to a new contract ratified this month.
Teamsters Local 743 negotiated the hire of 20 additional employees at RTC’s Chicago warehouse after management agreed to shift unorganized temporary workers to full-time positions. In addition to the new positions, the three-year contract includes annual wage increases, reduced health care costs and guaranteed bonuses for the expanded unit of 94 workers.
“Within just weeks of the previous contract’s expiration, the Teamsters negotiated a powerful new contract that brings actual, tangible change to people’s lives,” said Donnie Von Moore, Local 743 President. “We’re moving in the right direction. We’re growing this great union.”
Under Teamster contract since the 1960s, RTC Industries manufactures graphic displays and signage for Walgreens and other nationwide retail outlets. With the newly ratified contract, Teamster men and women on the assembly lines will see a $6,000 benefit increase to their life insurance coverage and greater overtime opportunities with the company.
“Local 743’s new contract proves once again that the benefits of being a Teamster don’t stop at the paycheck,” said John T. Coli, President of Teamsters Joint Council 25. “Real representation isn’t just about protecting members in times of need. We’re demanding the benefits and creating the opportunities that move families forward.”
Teamsters Local 743 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and Indiana.
