Local 700 Member Elected President of Teamsters Hispanic Caucus
Hector Hernandez Unopposed in Election to Chicago Chapter
Longtime Teamsters Local 700 member Hector Hernandez was elected President of the Chicago Chapter of the Teamsters National Hispanic Caucus. Hernandez ran without opposition in the early-February election.
“This is exciting news not just for the Hispanic Caucus, but Teamsters Joint Council 25 and thousands of members throughout Illinois,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “Hector’s vision for the Hispanic Caucus will expand membership and the chapter’s ability to get more involved on national and local levels.”
Hernandez, who joined the caucus two years ago, has been a Teamster more than 13 years. During the last several election cycles in the Chicago area, Hernandez has been integral in working with volunteers and coordinating housewalks and get-out-the-vote efforts—political involvement he sees as vital to the Hispanic Caucus’ existence.
“My goal is to bring the Teamsters Hispanic community together with other members,” said Hernandez. “Beginning now, the Chicago Chapter of the Hispanic Caucus will play a more active role within the International, Joint Council 25 and Local 700.”
Teamsters Local 700 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and Indiana.
