Rahm Emanuel Addresses Joint Council 25 Delegates

Coli: Teamsters Will Be Active Partner of New Chicago Mayor

Rahm Emanuel, the leading candidate for Chicago mayor, made time for the Teamsters on Tuesday as he addressed the delegates of Teamsters Joint Council 25.

The former chief of staff to President Barack Obama visited the Teamsters’ meeting on February 8, 2011, to reaffirm his commitment to work with organized labor to solve myriad issues affecting the city. Joint Council 25 represents thousands of public employees and more than 30,000 Chicago residents—hardworking men and women to whom Emanuel would like to give a seat at the table.

“Rahm Emanuel understands that when it comes to improving city services, you must have a discussion and formulate a plan with the men and women who perform the work,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “The Teamsters will be an active partner to strengthen this city when Rahm is elected mayor on February 22.”

Joint Council 25 officially endorsed Emanuel on January 25 in a meeting with members at the Chicago International Produce Market.

Teamsters Joint Council 25 represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and Indiana.
