Members Invited to Help Improve Representation for Teamster Women
Teamsters in Illinois and Indiana are welcome to attend Teamsters Joint Council 25’s first union-wide Women’s Committee meeting on January 18, 2011.
Rank-and-file members and union representatives will gather to discuss new initiatives for improving representation for Teamster women. Members of the Joint Council’s Women’s Committee will address the committee’s accomplishments over the past year and work with participants to generate new ideas for the future.
“Since coming together last fall, the Joint Council 25 Women’s Committee has set its sights firmly on celebrating the diversity and strength of union women in Illinois and Indiana,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “Our first union-wide meeting will be another opportunity for women and members across the Chicago area to champion this important issue.”
In addition to helping raise $45,000 for the Breast Cancer Network of Strength in 2010, the Women’s Committee recently hosted its Inaugural Women’s Seminar. The annual event is a platform for area Teamsters to engage in a variety of topics, including the history of Teamster women, women’s health and political action. The 2nd Annual Women’s Seminar will be held on November 5, 2011.
Registration is required to attend the union-wide Women’s Committee meeting on January 18. Members may fax their completed registration forms to the Joint Council at (847) 292-1412 no later than January 12.
