Specialty License Plates Available Soon for Indiana Teamsters
State to Offer First Teamster Plates Starting January 1, 2011
Teamsters in Indiana will soon be able to take their union pride on the road by purchasing the state’s first Teamsters specialty license plate.
Starting January 1, 2011, the State of Indiana will begin accepting authorization forms and vouchers to obtain the specialty plates. Teamsters and other drivers throughout Indiana can complete the necessary forms and pay all applicable fees by contacting Teamsters Local 142.
“The Teamsters license plate not only reminds everyone on the road of the strength of our union, but it offers Indiana drivers a special designation to call their own,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “Purchasers of the plates may also be proud that a portion of proceeds raised will be set aside for designated charities.”
The new license plates, which may be personalized, will be available for cars, trucks, RVs and motorcycles. Approximately half of all fees collected to produce the plates will be donated to assist local charities and families in need.
“After several years of working with state officials to make these specialty license plates a reality, Teamsters now have the chance to show their union pride in a whole new way,” said Mitch Sawochka, Local 142 President. “We’re also proud to have the opportunity to give back to our communities and assist working families across Indiana.”
Completed authorization forms and paid vouchers are required to obtain the new license plates. Fees must be collected through the Teamsters’ local unions.
