Upcoming Event Offers Study of Rights, Protocol for Union Stewards

Teamster stewards in Illinois can offer stronger representation to members by attending Teamsters Joint Council 25’s Annual Stewards Training.

From 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010, Shawn Ellis of the Teamsters Training & Development Department will guide stewards through a contemporary study of workers’ rights and representation in the workplace. Member stewards of the 20 Teamster locals affiliated with Joint Council 25 are invited to attend.

“The annual training is a perfect opportunity for stewards to stay aware of all of the rights available to union members, while getting to know other Teamster stewards,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “We all know the challenges we face in fighting for equality and justice on the job. Let’s take this time to reassess all of the tools at our disposal to give Teamster members the defense they deserve.”

Registration is required to attend the free training. To register, download a registration form here. All completed forms should be faxed to Joint Council 25 at (847) 292-1412 no later than September 21, 2010.

The stewards training will be held at Teamster City, 330 S. Ashland Avenue, Lower Level, Chicago, IL 60607.
