Lt. Governor Candidate Simon Joins Supporters at Kickoff Reception

Teamsters to Participate in Housewalks for Gov. Quinn in May

Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Sheila Simon joined supporters and union members for a campaign celebration April 27 at Teamsters Local 727.

Teamster volunteers will be participating in housewalks in support of Gov. Pat Quinn May 16-17 and May 22-23 in suburban Cook County.

The reception also served as a “thank you” for Teamsters who participated in housewalks for Quinn before the primary election in February.

“You were out there on some cold days this winter, and I was right there with you,” Simon said. “And I hope to be with you on some hot days this summer. Together, we need to spread the message that Pat Quinn is the only logical choice for governor.”

Simon, the daughter of the late Sen. Paul Simon, is a former City Council member in Carbondale and current law professor at Southern Illinois University. Following an endorsement by Gov. Quinn, Simon was selected by leaders of the Illinois Democratic Party in March to be the party’s lieutenant governor nominee.
