McCook Firefighters Unanimously Approve Teamster Representation
Local 700’s New Members Seek Fair, Consistent System With First Contract
Contract negotiations began this month with the McCook Fire Department after all 12 firefighters agreed to join Teamsters Local 700.
The firefighters wanted to organize in order to establish a consistent set of rules and regulations by which the workers and their employers must abide.
“The ball is rolling now, and I am confident the firefighters will receive the fair and equitable system they are seeking and rightfully deserve,” said William Logan, Local 700 Assistant Trustee.
The labor board certified the McCook firefighters’ request on March 9, and the first contract negotiation meeting was April 8. The second negotiation meeting will be held Thursday, April 29.
Local 700 is one of the largest and most unified locals in the country, representing more than 13,000 public service employees.
Teamsters Local 700 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and Indiana.
