Teamsters Honor Illinois Speaker of the House
Joint Council 25 Hosts Fundraiser for Labor Supporter
Michael Madigan
Union activists and business leaders joined Teamsters Joint Council 25 on Monday to celebrate one of the state’s most tenured labor supporters, Illinois Speaker of the House Michael J. Madigan.
As House Speaker for more than three decades, Madigan has played a significant role in every critical piece of Illinois labor legislation. This week’s labor luncheon gave the Teamsters and its supporters an opportunity to honor a powerful advocate in Springfield and support his ongoing commitment to working men and women throughout the state.
“Michael Madigan has and will always be a staunch labor supporter who puts working families first in the governance of Illinois,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “The Teamsters are fortunate to have such a friend in Springfield, whose actions on key legislation from the capital bill to the film tax credit to prevailing wage expansion have served to strengthen our organization.”
United Auto Workers Region 4, Iron Workers Local Union 1, Theatrical Stage Employees Union Local 2, Motion Picture Studio Mechanics Local 476 and other unions and labor activists joined Joint Council 25 for the fundraiser.
Teamsters Joint Council 25 represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois.
