Teamsters Local 786 to Host Voter Registration Seminar
Teamsters Vote Very Important in Upcoming Election
On July 12, Teamsters Local 786 will host a voter registration meeting in Chicago to deputize Teamster members as official voter registrars. Deputy registrars are trained and take an oath in order to properly serve the state and its citizens. (For more information about Deputy registrars, click here .)
“We are inviting all Teamsters out to learn about voter registration and make a difference in this very important election,” said Mick Yauger, Teamsters Local 786 President and Joint Council 25 TVIP Committeeman. “We need a team to motivate members to register and vote to continue the Teamsters’ strength in the political process.”
The one-hour session will be lead by county election officials from Cook, Kane, Will, DuPage, Lake, McHenry and Lake County in Indiana. Deputy registrars will then be encouraged to register co-workers, community members, family and friends.
“We are going to keep holding meetings like this and getting people registered,” Yauger said. “Voting is one of the most easiest and straightforward ways to have your voice heard and begin change.”
Registration for the general election will end on October 7, 2008.
