South Holland Police Officers Vote to Become Teamsters

Local 714 Welcomes 35 New Members to Union

On June 20, South Holland, Illinois police officers voted recently to join the Teamsters, another organizing victory for Local 714 in Berwyn, Illinois. There are 35 members in the bargaining unit.

Business Agent Barbara Cornett said the officers were eager to join the Teamsters.

“They wanted a union that would fight harder for them, and the Teamsters are that union,” Cornett said. Wages and working conditions are the officers’ top issues.

The officers are members of the 45-person department in the Village of South Holland.

Teamsters Local 714, located in Berwyn, Illinois, represents approximately 8,000 members around the Chicagoland area.
