The national event is an educational program that allows children to spend the day with a parent or family member at work and expose them to potential careers.
“Teamsters Local 727 really embraces the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day as a wonderful opportunity to educate children on working and the Teamsters Union,” said Becky Strzechowski, Teamsters Local 727 Vice President and Business Manager.
Local 727 has been participating in the program for 10 years. Kids ranged in age from three to 10 years old.
“I like getting the chance to see my mom’s work and what she does,” said Idalis Suarez, a fifth grader and daughter of Yahaira Suarez, Teamsters Local 727 bookkeeper. “It’s fun to come into the office and work for the Teamsters.”
Teamsters Local 727 represents members in Chicago in the auto livery chauffeurs, funeral directors, embalmers apprentices, ambulance drivers and helpers, taxicab drivers, miscellaneous garage employees, car washers, greasers, polishers and wash rack attendants industries.
