“Helmets to Hardhats is a wonderful and necessary program that helps our recently returning veterans find jobs,” said Michael Yauger, Teamsters Joint Council 25 Helmets to Hardhats Representative and Local 786 President. “In Chicago, we aren’t just talking about making changes, we are doing something about. And with the support of people like Congressman Roskam and Secretary White, we are going to make a difference.”
The workshop offered veterans resume assistance, job counseling, assistance with union job applications and other opportunities.
“Veterans are returning home from foreign battlefields with advanced skill sets, ready and willing to continue to serve their families, their communities and their country,” Congressman Roskam said. “Federal, state and local resources must continue to work together to ensure men and women of our Armed Forces can take advantage of the best employment opportunities available upon their return.”
