“This is a perfect example of what happens when Teamster members stand strong and united,” said Dominic Romanazzi, Teamsters Local 330 President. “We were fighting for fairness and respect, and the company realized they can’t take advantage of us.”
W. Kost was insisting on a two-year wage freeze as well as cutting other benefits in the upcoming contract.
“The members were already showing a lot of compassion and generosity towards their employer by consenting to a one-year wage freeze,” Romanazzi said. “We all know that times are tough for everyone in the construction industry, but they tried to take it too far.”
W. Kost agreed to continue with the original agreement after the workers had been on strike for eight hours.
The 20 members work as truck drivers, crane operators, forklift drivers and mechanics on worksites around northern Illinois.
Teamsters Local 330 represents approximately 2,000 members in the Elgin, Illinois region.
