Joint Council 25 Fights Hunger

Teamsters Food Drive Collects Nearly 5,000 Meals

Teamsters Joint Council 25 collected more than 6,500 pounds of food during a February food drive in Chicago. The food was donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. 

The Teamsters Joint Council 25 semi-truck was featured in the 53rd Annual St. Patrick's Day and the 5th Annual Northwest Side Irish Parade.

“This food drive is a perfect example of why I am proud to be a part of Teamsters Joint Council 25,” said John T. Coli, Teamsters Joint Council 25 President.  “We have so many generous members who realize the importance of helping their less fortunate neighbors.  The food drives proved once again what Teamsters can do when they come together to make positive changes.”

Teamster Locals 301, 673, 703, 705, 710, 714, 726, 727, 731, 734, 777, 781 and 786 collected food from staff, members and the community. 

“Food drives are an important source of nutritious food for our hungry neighbors,” said Kate R. Maehr, Executive Director of the Greater Chicago Food Depository.  “The 6,541 pounds of food that Teamsters Joint Council 25 collected will provide 4,918 quality meals for the hungry in our community.”

Approximately 500,000 people in Cook County rely on food provided by the Food Depository. 

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is a not-for-profit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community.  The Food Depository distributed food to 600 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to nearly one half million people. 

Teamsters Joint Council 25 is the governing body of 22 local unions in the greater Chicagoland area.  The Joint Council assists its local is coordinating Teamster activities, solving problems and organizing.
