Teamsters Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Members Support Two Chicago Parades
The Teamsters showed their Irish spirit as participants in the 53rd Annual Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the 5th Annual Northwest Side Irish Parade this weekend.

“The Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a terrific celebration that brings the community together,” said Patrick Flynn, Teamsters Local 710 Secretary-Treasurer. “It’s one of the great traditions in this city that brings out the spirit in everyone.”
St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday. Local 710’s float, the Joint Council 25’s semi truck and Local 705’s van were greeted with cheers from parade-goers.
The northwest side of Chicago got their turn on Sunday with hundreds lining Northwest Boulevard. Joint Council 25, Local 734 and Local 786 participated in the parade.

On Saturday, thousands of people lined Chicago’s Columbus Avenue to watch floats, Irish dancers, marching bands, trucks and cars parade down the street to celebrate
Teamsters Local 786 President Michael Yauger was selected as the Northwest Side Irish Parade 2008’s “Humanitarians of the Year” for his hard work assisting American troops and veterans.
More than 300 Teamsters and their families from around Chicagoland joined in the festivities.
Teamsters Joint Council 25 is the governing body of 22 local unions in the greater Chicagoland area. The Joint Council assists its local unions in coordinating Teamster activities, solving problems and organizing.
