"Jim Connelly, Kevin Giegoldt, Ron Bosco, Reuben Gonzalez, Joseph Schaffer and Pramod Thomas have worked diligently to gain Teamster membership for themselves and their co-workers,” said Richard A. Smith, Teamsters Local 781 President.  “We look forward to winning this election, and fighting hard to make positive changes for these workers.  They will never regret choosing this union.”

The idea to join the Teamsters began as a grassroots effort by a group of UAL mechanics looking for something better, including job protection, solid wages and benefits, safety measures and retirement security. After two years of hard work, the representation vote will counted on March 31.

“The Teamsters have a strong membership that provides power.  We are in a government-regulated industry, so we need a strong voice behind us,” said Jim Connolly, a UAL mechanic for 32 years.  “The Teamsters are second to none, and I look forward to becoming a member.”

The UAL mechanics work all around the country, including Chicago and Indianapolis.  The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 40,000 airline employees, including 9,000 mechanics at 11 airlines.

Teamsters Joint Council 25 is the governing body of 22 local unions in the greater Chicagoland area.  The Joint Council assists its local in coordinating Teamster activities, solving problems and organizing.
