Joliet School Bus Drivers Choose Teamsters 

Local 179 Welcomes First Transit Workers

First Transit school bus drivers voted to join Teamsters Local 179 on January 3. 

“School bus drivers are responsible for our family members every day.  They need to be respected and treated fairly,” said Tom Flynn, Teamsters Local 179 Business Agent and Organizer.  “With the Teamsters’ representation, these workers will be able to gain the fair wages and benefits they deserve.”

The school bus drivers transport seniors and mentally disabled children in the Joliet, Illinois area.

Teamsters Local 179 represents more than 2,500 members in the Joliet region in the construction, warehouse, commercial service and freight industries and the public sector.
